Sometimes in life, you need a second chance. So tonight, I dusted off the old prom dress and to my surprise it still freakin’ fit. I threw on some black pumps, smeared a little makeup on & headed out to Conroy’s for their Second Chance Prom Party!
When I pulled up, the parking lot was fairly full and people were sitting on the patio having drinks. I felt a little nervous walking up because none of the people outside had on formal attire like me. They all just stared.
Upon entering I was greeted by a group of staff all dolled up. All I could think was, thank god! I DID NOT want to be the one person looking like an ass in a prom dress. The bar was decorated nicely with black and white streamers, balloons and cute little vases on the tables with complimentary masquerade masks. There was a photo booth for prom pictures and a pretty decent dj.
The crowd had a healthy mix of Spurs fans catching the end of the 4th quarter and people dressed up in formal attire for prom. It was an interesting dynamic, but felt comfortable. I grabbed a seat at a hi-top in front of one of their many TVs.
Since I fit in my prom dress, I thought I’d treat myself to a fat juicy steak. I ordered the 8oz sirloin with a salad and loaded baked potato. The steak was seriously…perfection in my mouth (and I’m a serious meat eater)! Plus the cost was pretty reasonable at $8.99.
After the Spurs game ended, that crowd kinda cleared out, which left the folks there for prom and a couple of stragglers. It took a little while for people to get a few drinks down, and then that high school senior in them really started to come out. Everyone really seemed to enjoy taking pictures at the photo booth & dancing to the dj.
All in all, it was a pretty cool experience.
